With their seven different sized chambers on site and a combination of mobile, wide aisle and narrow aisle static racking Cold Move can store up to 13,000 pallets. The site also has the capability to blast freeze up to 150 pallets per day due to its state-of-the-art blast freezing / tempering facilities.

The Objective

With the business using over 6,000,000 kWhs per year Cold Move approached Alt-Solar to undertake a solar feasibility on their Glovers Meadow & Maes-Y-Clawdd sites in order to begin their net zero journey and reduce the business’s
carbon emissions.

The Solution
Alt-Solar undertook a technical site survey with the customer to make sure the solar system optimised the roof size and orientation to meet their high energy needs. Once Alt-Solar had secured the National Grid offer for the customer, an 826kW system was designed and installed across the businesses two roofs. Cold Move are predicted to use 100% of the 721,916 kWhs generated each year from the system, saving over 168 tons of CO2 a year and providing them with a 3-year payback on their investment.
