Radnor Hills
Radnor Hills are a fifth-generation farm who produce a range of still, sparkling and flavoured drinks from the surrounding pure spring water on site. Over time, Radnor Hills have focused repeatedly on the effects their business has on the planet, from sending zero waste to landfill since 2018 to being the first in their industry to create 100% recyclable bottles.
The Objective
Having a sustainable focus led the company to follow up on a recommendation from an existing Alt-Group customer to develop a solution for reducing their CO2 and energy costs. Radnor approached Alt-Group in order to help them progress their net zero targets and reduce their current 9,706,993 kWh annual energy usage.
Alt-Group visited the site and completed a full technical site survey which concluded both a roof and a ground mounted PV system would be appropriate to help the business achieve their aims.
The Solution
Alt-Group worked with Radnor Hills to provide a full turnkey
package including the National Grid application and
planning.
- Phase 1 comprised of a 1MW roof mounted PV system.
- Phase 2 completed 6 months later, comprised of a 1.1MW ground mounted system. Combined, the site will consume 99% of the power generated from the solar arrays, providing a payback of 2.8 years.
Overall, both systems will avoid 490 tons of CO2 each year and reduce their electricity bills by £53,673.75.
