Toons Home Furnishers is a longstanding, well-respected local business offering carefully curated home furnishings and homeware. The business began as a market stall in Swadlincote and half a century later, Toons has one of the biggest furniture showrooms in the county. Alt helped Toons combat rising energy costs and reduce the carbon footprint for future generations.
The Objective
Following a recommendation from another local business, Toons approached Alt-Solar to design and install a bespoke solar solution based on their energy requirements.
The objective was to future-proof the site’s energy costs to support business expansion. Alt-Solar undertook a full energy review and recommended a 231kW PV system using the most suitable roof on the Toons site.
The solar PV system installed by Alt-Solar is predicted to generate 205,000 kWhs per year, providing over 50% of the company’s electricity needs, saving over 48 tons of CO2 a year and providing Toons with a 4-year payback on their investment.
The Solution
When our Project Manager undertook the technical site survey it was clear the space was limited for AC connection. However, this was resolved by using the highlevel flat roof space to make a plant room. Additionally, we used an alternative clamp to suit the customer’s standing seam roof system, allowing the S Flex Mounting kit to be secured correctly.
