2000kW installation at Trostrey Court
Usk Valley, Wales

Company Overview

Trostrey Court is a large generational forward thing farming enterprise located in the picturesque Usk Valley in Wales.

The Objective

Trostrey Court approached Alt-Group after being recommended by another farmer, to tender for a large solar installation at their farm. The site currently uses 280,000 kWhs of electricity per year though different meters, supplying biomass boilers, poultry and the general farm buildings. The objective was to help amalgamate the supplies and use the secured grid capacity to maximize the farm’s financial future for new generations though sustainable long-term goals and leave a modern farming legacy.

The Solution

Alt-Group undertook a technical site visit to understand the building and site connection potential in further detail.

We were able to propose a fully managed installation that included the installation of a new high-voltage network to allow local connection of solar generated electricity, while being able to utilise the power through the entire farm, offsetting a greater proportion of the farm’s energy requirements.

The solar PV system is predicted to generate 1,640,000 kWhs per year, providing over 70% of the farm’s electricity
