1303kW installation for Yorkshire Grown Produce
Yorkshire

Company Overview

The family’s roots originate back to Sicily where the first-generation family members initially grew olives and lemons.

Expansion plans led to the relocation of the family’s operation to the East Riding of Yorkshire in 1993, where it became one of the largest award-winning fresh produce suppliers during Tony’s service and operated the equivalent area of 45 football pitches of glasshouse production.

The Objective

The business wanted to investigate sustainable ways to reduce the energy costs and CO2 emissions associated with growing and packing produce for the UK’s supermarkets.

The Solution

While working with several companies offering solar solutions, it soon became clear to the business owners that not all companies were alike.

Alt-Group proposed various options for the clients, and they settled on a 1,303kWp PV system across the roofs of the packing center.

The DNO connection was not straightforward, but Alt-Group’s technical team were able to help the customer to meet the technical requirements and save over £200K on the initial DNO offer.

The customer stated “I found Alt-Group extremely helpful and honest from the start. I am not an expert in solar, so I relied heavily on them to provide information I could rely on to make a strong business decision. They have delivered over and above my expectations”
