Toons
Alt-Solar has provided a 231kW roof mounted solar PV system for Toons Home Furnishers in Derbyshire to help combat rising energy costs and reduce the carbon footprint for future generations.
Toons Home Furnishers is a longstanding, well-respected local business offering carefully curated home furnishings and homeware. The business began as a market stall in Swadlincote and half a century later, Toons has one of the biggest furniture showrooms in the county.
Following a recommendation from another local business, Toons approached Alt-Solar to design and install a bespoke solar solution based on their energy requirements.
Alt-Solar undertook a full energy review and recommended a 231kW PV system using the most suitable roof on the Toons’ site.
The solar PV system installed by Alt-Solar is predicted to generate 200,000 kWh’s per year, providing over 50 per cent of the company’s electricity needs, saving over 48 tons of CO2 a year and providing Toons with a 4-year financial payback.
The project was installed and commissioned alongside National Grid, and an export limitation system fitted to allow Toons to benefit from higher generation.
Alt-Solar undertook all aspects of the project from structural survey, access, installation, commissioning, handover, and ongoing O&M with cleaning.
The monitoring system allows visualisation of system generation, site consumption and export electricity.
Store Director Huw Williams said “Alt-Solar was flawless from the start and took care of absolutely everything. The installation team was friendly and efficient. Even though I was on holiday for part of the installation, I felt confident to leave them to continue with their work. I would thoroughly recommend any business considering solar to speak to Alt.”
